BIM Manager - Cooper Carry - Atlanta - GA

As our BIM Manager you will be responsible for developing and delivering project models and drawings and the delivery of consistent, efficient and high quality technical services. Your responsibilities also include assisting project teams with developing and delivering project narratives. You provide and maintain a resource for the research, evaluation, selection and specification of building materials, components, assemblies, systems and standards to produce a product of desired quality and performance predictability. You report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate with the Technical Services Manager and Studio project team leadership.

DUTIES
  • Specific responsibilities of the Staff Architect may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assists the Board of Directors in the formation of Firm policy as it relates to the use of building materials, components, assemblies and systems.
  • Maintains an awareness of the Firm's design direction and anticipate staff needs in terms of building materials, components, assemblies and systems research.
  • Supports Firm policy as it relates to the use building materials, components, assemblies and systems.
  • Communicates the Firm's expectations to Project Managers and Architects as they relate to project modeling and drawing production.
  • Develops and maintains office master modeling content, drawing strategies and standards and standard details to reflect proficient, performance-based building science and technology and fill the needs of Project Managers and Architects in developing project models and drawings.
  • Solicits feedback from Project Managers and Architects concerning the effectiveness of the office masters and appropriateness of building materials, components, assemblies and systems being specified.
  • Maintains the Revit Development and Support Groups as resource centers of knowledge and expertise in materials and methods of construction using appropriate building materials, components, assemblies and systems.
  • Collaborates with the Technical Services Manager and Information Technology (IT) Team in researching, implementing, coordinating and integrating alternative applicable softwares / processes pursuant to data base building information model and drawing development, energy modeling and analyses and sustainability best practices for Firm use.
  • Collaborates with the Technical Services Manager in formulating, implementing and communicating Firm policy regarding quality planning, assurance and control as they relate to project delivery and project documentation standards, processes and procedures, including project plan reviews.
  • Works with Project Managers and Architects in scheduling project model and drawing production.
  • Avails for project meetings related to project models and drawings.
  • Assists Project Managers and Architects in confirming their understandings of the Owner / Clients’ project goals and desires as they relate to building materials, components, assemblies and systems.
  • Assists Project Managers and Architects in meeting Owner / Clients’ goals and / or resolving Owner / Clients’ problems as they relate to contract documents.
  • Assists project teams in resolving Owner / Client problems as they relate to contract documents.
  • Researches and reviews and evaluates and coordinates vendors that represent product lines that conform to the Firm's design standards.
  • Avails to staff for assistance in developing design concepts.
  • Assists project teams during construction phases with addenda, bulletins, document modifications, substitutions and submittals.
  • Identifies potential problems impacting project profitability to project teams.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer, Corporate Legal Counsel and the Technical services Manager in researching, formulating and delivering pertinent, professional continuing education coursework to project teams and the Firm.
  • Assists project teams in reviewing consultant invoicing as may be requested.
  • Maintains base state registration and professional affiliations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of professional architectural practice experience.
  • 5+ years of project modelling and drawing experience.
  • Registered Architect preferred.
  • Experience with AIA Contract Documents, ARCOM’s MasterSpec and building information modeling (BIM), specifically Autodesk’s Revit Architecture, the AIA’s Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice and CSI’s Project Delivery Practice Guide.
  • Experience with elements of OmniClass, MasterFormat and UniFormat as foundational classification systems for structuring construction data attached to a BIM.
  • Experience with various green building rating systems, particularly USGBC’s LEED certification and the US EPA’s ENERGY STAR program preferred.
  • Experience with InterSpec’s e-SPECS for Revit preferred.
  • Strong technical background with codes, regulations and standards and associations and societies, councils and institutes associated with the design professions and construction industry.
  • Strong technical background with varied experience in the overall practice of architecture, systems research and project management experience.
  • Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills with emphasis in interpersonal, collaboration, presentation and teaching skills.
