REVIT Drafter/Designer - Chicago

OtterBase is looking to identify a couple new REVIT drafters and designers for their architect and engineering firm client in the downtown Chicago area. The manager is ready to make a hire ASAP and get someone in the door yesterday.

Duration: 4+ Months (potential for long-term)
Location: Chicago, IL 60603

Responsibilities:
  • Draft architectural and MEP designs/documents for a wide variety of challenging projects
  • Coordinate and communicate with the engineers for ideas, designs and information in support of engineering functions
  • Must have a strong proficiency with Revit
  • Must have a good understanding of, and the ability to read and interpret structural construction drawings
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years AutoCAD and REVIT experience
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical CAD drafting experience with REVIT

Job Responsibilities:
  • Structured cabling system design in support of systems designs provided by others (such as data network, voice system, security, and audiovisual)
  • -Experience with campus, riser and horizontal cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cabling (UTP/STP, coaxial, etc.), telecommunications room layout and design
  • Experience with projects of all scales and complexities for a variety of program types, including mixed-use, core & shell, commercial, academic, healthcare, residential, data center, hospitality and civic; both domestic and international; both new construction and retrofits
  • Experience with the AIA design cycle deliverables for cabling, including SD, DD, CD, and CA
  • Perform design in both AutoCAD and Revit design software
Credentials:
  • Ideal candidate will have RCDD certification
Aptitude, Experience & Interest:

Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineer - Chicago

Plumbing / Fire Protection Engineer

Responsibilities:
  • Support the firm in the design of projects of all scales and complexities for a variety of project types, including mixed-use, commercial, academic, healthcare, residential, hospitality and civic, both domestic and international; both new construction and retrofits
  • Understand and apply engineering principles and fundamentals of fire protection design including but not limited to fire pump calculations, pipe sizing, gas suppression, deluge, pre-action systems, and high-rise design
  • Responsible for plumbing and gas piping layout/sizing; pump head calculations; plumbing fixtures and equipment selection; coordination with equipment vendors and other in-house disciplines; and shop drawing review for plumbing systems
  • Understand and apply proper interpretation of building codes and national fire codes
  • Comply with and promote PositivEnergy Practice design standards and quality assurance procedures
  • Develop contract documents (plans, specifications, and opinions of probable cost) for fire protection, smoke control, and fire alarm
  • Review shop drawings and resolve installation problems for all disciplines
  • Conduct site observations to assess, evaluate, and document existing conditions as well as provide estimates of probable cost to establish code compliance or equivalency
  • Plumbing/Fire Protection project management
  • Experience involving the design of automatic sprinkler, standpipe, and fire pump systems; clean agent suppression systems; hydraulic calculations; shop drawing review and fire protection system start-up and testing observation
  • Perform design in both AutoCAD and Revit design software
  • Meet project deadlines as required by Clients’ demands
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in analysis and design of plumbing and/or fire protection systems
  • Engineering Degree (BS Architectural Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, BS Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent degree) preferred
  • Experience in Revit MEP and experience modeling HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing
  • Action-oriented and collaborative
  • Self-motivated team player with ability to work well independently

IT System Administrator - LPA - Irvine CA

LPA is seeking a service oriented System Administrator to join its Information and Technology team at its corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA. The primary role of the System Administrator is to maintain LPA’s IT infrastructure that facilitates its ambitious and strategic growth goals. As a member of the Information and Technology team the System Administrator will collaborate with all members of the team, including people with expertise in information technology, information systems and design technology to execute LPA’s vision for technology. The System Administrator will also work directly with all employees of LPA to provide technical support. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day to day support for all network infrastructure including: servers, LAN/WAN, telephony, remote access, internet access, data backups and archival, Active Directory and personal device access

  • Maintain a 60+ VMWare server environment
  • Create & maintain IT security policies
  • Installation and tracking of IT assets

Design Technologies Manager - LPA - Irvine CA

The Design Technologies Manager is a critical part of LPA’s Information and Technology team, which supports and develops the workflows and digital tools used by integrated design teams at LPA. This is accomplished through collaboration, with architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects, on the use of building information modeling (BIM), computer aided design (CAD) and project information management (PIM) platforms.
