buildingSMART (BIM) Specialist / MEP Engineering - HOK - San Francisco or Houston

HOK is looking for a building SMART (BIM) Specialist in MEP Engineering in either the San Francisco or Houston office. This position supports project teams through application of expert Revit knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

[General]
  • Provides expertise and/or advisement to project teams for implementation of Revit and buildingSMART techniques.
  • Provides feedback on project-based activities to the firmwide buildingSMART team.
  • Supports the development of HOK BIM standards and content for MEP disciplines.
  • Can be a resource and team member in all phases of projects.
  • Maintains current knowledge of design software, industry developments in integrated practice, and other applicable techniques.
  • Acts as leader and mentor by coaching and motivating project team members in the use of advanced Revit technologies.
  • Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
[MEP Engineering]
  • Creates HOK standard Revit families and templates for MEP disciplines.
  • Standardize workflows and processes across offices to utilize model based design of MEP systems.
  • Utilizes specialist knowledge to conduct analysis or modeling in one of the following areas; M, E, or P Engineering, M, E, or P Revit Modeling, Building Physics, Energy Modeling, Daylight Analysis, CFD, MEP Fabrication, or Structures as noted below.
SKILLS and COMPETENCY

[General]
  • Advanced knowledge in building information modeling programs and applicable techniques.
  • Expertise in Revit and other BIM tools required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel required.
  • Knowledge about sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Experience with programming/scripting languages such as: C#, Java, VBA, Python preferred
  • Experience with web development using: HTML, CSS, JavaScript preferred
  • Ability to effectively meet and accommodate deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and provide timely feedback and guidance to the Design Team.
[MEP Engineering]
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of MEP systems and equipment.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Experience with simulation applications preferred: EnergyPlus, Radiance, Ansys, IES, Diva.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Five years of discipline-specific modeling experience working on one or more of the following building types: commercial, corporate, institutional/civic, justice, science/technology, aviation, or healthcare.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or PE preferred, if applicable.
  • Experience working and coordinating with integrated teams.
  • LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.

BIM Manager - CAMPO Architects - New Orleans

John T. Campo & Associates, Inc. (CAMPO Architects) is seeking a BIM (Revit) Manager to collaborate with all project teams providing technical support, modeling, creating families, training and troubleshooting.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES
  • Develop office BIM (Revit) workflow and standards, and update as necessary.
  • Maintain, implement, and coordinate Revit templates, family libraries, detail libraries, and resources.
  • Lead BIM (Revit) project start-up, implementation plan and directory set-up.
  • Develop BIM (Revit) sectors based on construction phasing.
  • Act as a leader, liaison, and steward in BIM (Revit) between Campo staff, consultants, and clients.
  • Support continuous BIM (Revit) training to staff.
  • Lead BIM (Revit) interface with consultants and model exchange schedule.
  • Provide model maintenance and model review.
  • Provide BIM (Revit) quality control of all projects.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware specifications based on software demand.
  • Assist production during all phases of the design process.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience in the field of Architecture.
  • Licensing is desirable, but not a requirement.
  • A minimum of three (3) years coordinating BIM (Revit).
    • Autodesk Certification is desirable but not mandatory, test results are required.
    • Revit experience within historic rehabilitation projects is desirable.
  • Proven knowledge of the National BIM Standard – Version 2.
  • Advanced computer skills, work well under pressure and show the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Time management and organizational skills with the ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
An in-office test may be given to verify the applicant’s Revit abilities.
Salary will be commensurate with knowledge and experience level.

HVAC Systems Designer

Overall Position Description
MCI seeks a HVAC Systems Associate to design multiple, complex HVAC projects for a large commercial HVAC Contractor through-out North and South Carolina in a professional and profitable manner. The position reports to the Supervisor of Engineering and is located in Charlotte, NC.

Key Job Tasks
Design Duties Include
  • Select and design HVAC systems:
    • Load analysis
    • Equipment selection
    • Duct and piping design
    • Generate plans and coordinate with other trades
    • Shop drawing for construction
    • Submittal approval and site inspections
  • Interact with building owners, property management, and members of design and construction team
  • On a limited basis:
    • Develop and maintain CAD/BIM standards and details
    • Assist with service and controls group
  • LEED project review and documentation
Maintain effective communications with Project Teams:
  • Communicate with interdepartmental Marketing, Sales, and Estimating individuals.
  • Communicate with Project Leaders during progress meetings and coordinate closely with all project teams on any special requirements projects may have ( i.e. LEED)
Ensure customer satisfaction during project:
  • Communicate with Project Team to identify conflict and work to resolve issues to meet customer
  • Maintain high quality of design documents from initial design through completion of construction.
Qualifications
Required Academic Credentials, Certifications, Licenses:
  • College degree or community college diploma in mechanical engineering or construction management.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Autodesk products including AutoCAD and Revit MEP versions 2012, 2013, Navisworks, and Trane Trace/Carrier HAP.
  • Minimum five years related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment and systems
    • Ductwork, piping, refrigeration, compressed air, gas piping, and steam systems
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
  • NC Mechanical Contracting License
  • Knowledge of Energy Management Systems and/or temperature controls considered an asset
