You need extensive knowledge of residential and light commercial construction. Practical construction field experience is a must. You need to be fluent with AutoCAD and Revit. DUTIES TO INCLUDE
  • Superior design and communication skills: verbal, written, and graphic
  • The ability to be self-directed in the preparation of design development and technical documents and details for projects
  • Have a thorough understanding of the building process including 2015 International Building Codes (IBC, IRC, IMC, IFC, IFGC, IECC) 2015 Uniform Plumbing Code, 2015 National Electric Code and ANSI A117.1-09
  • Knowledge of material use and properties of wood, concrete, steel
  • Ability to develop drawings utilizing AutoCAD & Revit

  • Flexibility and ability to reconcile different viewpoints, and use creative thought processes

Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Designer - Atlanta - GA

Jeffrey Seelig with Belcan represents an opportunity for a mechanical engineer/designer for a company in Atlanta, GA.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
You need a 4-year mechanical engineering degree and 5-7 years of related experience. This includes proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages such as AutoCAD and other related software. Revit proficiency is required. Ideally you'll have experience designing and engineering Central Chilled Water/Boiler Plants and distribution systems. Experience designing/engineering Process Utility Systems such as Steam System, Process Chilled/Cooling Water Systems, Compressed Air System, Dust Collection System is very relevant too.

SCOPE:
You will independently perform detailed phases of design and engineering of projects of moderate size and complexity for building mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems to assure safe reliable and energy efficient design. This requires the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria where the scope is already outlined in the form of contract drawings, specifications, one-line drawings and component estimates derived during the preliminary design process. You must be fully competent in all conventional aspects of design engineering and be capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop scope of work documents for the preliminary design process
  • Develop design criteria and equipment selection in preliminary design process for preparation of construction documents.
  • Develops specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents of a complex project of moderate size.
  • Selects the materials, equipment and systems based on constructability and value to conform to company standards and project budget.
  • Reviews vendor bids and drawings for major components to be used in the system to assure compliance with specifications, code and requirements of the project.
  • Reviews drawings and evaluates the need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities.
  • Ensures that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
  • May plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of lower-level engineers who assist with particular projects.
  • Responsible for keeping current on new mechanical, plumbing and fire protection products and must be able to judge their suitability for specific uses. Should compile and communicate with said product representatives on a regular basis.
  • Communicate appropriate information on project status, scope changes and problem areas to senior mechanical engineer.
  • Maintain current knowledge of International Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Codes, ASHRAE and NFPA as well as design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities.
  • File calculations in a complete and orderly manner for future reference.

You will provide Revit/CAD support to project teams, interpret and produce Revit/CAD drawings.
