BIM VDC Coordinator - Wight & Company - Darien - IL

We have a tremendous opportunity for a BIM/Virtual Design & Construction (VDC)Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have foresight of future trends in software applications and be on the forefront of current software.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Integrated Technology.
  • Contribute to/advance the adoption of BIM standards.
  • Train staff in Revit, including standards and best practices (Architecture, Interiors, MEP, Structural).
  • Assist teams with BIM Execution Planning at project kickoff and major milestones.
  • Troubleshoot Revit issues.
  • Assist project Teams with complex Revit setup/modeling requirements.
  • Build Revit families and manage Revit library.
  • Plan/implement variety of BIM/VDC processes throughout the project lifecycle, including visualization, modeling, virtual mock-ups. Model-based takeoffs, 3D coordination logistics and 4D staging diagrams.
  • Consult with contractors, designers, engineers and consultants to establish/maintain file management & BIM protocols required for effective coordination.
  • Lead clash coordination meetings.
  • Research/Develop new ways to utilize BIM information to enhance projects through stages of design/construction.
  • OPTIONAL – join the Wight DRONE team to PILOT drone for project photography and photogrammetry.

Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Architectural Drafting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ Revit experience, preferably in a multi-discipline office.
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) & Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) technology is required.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to produce high quality work with minimal oversite in a collaborate, fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for experimenting with new software and processes to enhance design & construction workflows.

Building Information Model Expert - Amenta Emma - Hartford - CT

Our Hartford office is seeking a Building Information Model expert to lead successful management of BIM production, workflows and standards to support our growing firm in our projects around the country. We are seeking qualified candidates who have demonstrated capacity for a high level of BIM Management responsibility to lead and support our staff.

BIM Manager job requirements include:
  • Provide Revit/BIM Management, leadership and support for the firm’s design projects for our Hartford and Boston office locations.
  • Work closely with the project team BIM Coordinator on developing project execution and implementation plans, project start-up methods and workflow strategies.
  • Assist project teams with advanced Revit modeling requirements, content creation and coordination efforts.

The primary role of the Virtual Design & Construction Designer (VDC Designer) is to lead project implementation of VDC technology and related processes. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate all BIM Modeling in Revit and maintain knowledge of trends in the BIM field
  • Identify constructability issues, missing information and notify project team of these issues
  • Ability to translate 2D drawings and specs into a complete 3D/4D models
  • Create fabrication drawings that are professional and accurate using architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical contract prints consistent with company standards.
  • Maintain project BIM execution plan
  • Estimate and establish VDC resources, budget and schedule for assigned project
  • Develop documents and implement practices and standards to optimize efficiency of projects

Education and/or Experience:
  • Associates Degree (A.A., A.S.) from a two-year community college or technical college with an emphasis in Design and Construction

  • OR equivalent combination of education and related experience/training
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to read and decipher construction documents, mainly electrical drawings and schematics.
