BIM Piping Project Coordinator - Victaulic - PA

Position/Title: BIM Piping Project Coordinator
Location (Facility): VICTAULIC --Easton, PA Global Headquarters
Reports to (Title): Construction Piping Services –(CPS) BIM Manager

Responsibilities:
  • Must have comprehensive piping project management skills (i.e. scheduling, budgeting, expediting, material coordination, customer interface) and be able to:
    • Assist/consult in the development of BIM Piping Project quotes.
    • Assist/consult in the development of change orders and the evaluation of back-charges and provide summary to CPS management.
    • Plan and schedule work to ensure project schedule milestones and deliverables are met and maintain CPM Schedules throughout BIM Projects.
    • Coordinate complete project and material handling from manufacturing to installation (i.e. bagging & tagging/expediting, fabrication of combination Victaulic and welded spools, field logistics)
  • Perform Quality Control Review of drawings and bill of materials (plans & sections, isometric's, spool sheets, B.O.M.'s) produced both in-house and by the GDC (Global Design Center) and/or other CPS office, utilizing CPS procedures and standards.
  • Ability to prepare detailed 3D drawings in Revit, AutoCAD & CADmep as well as various other design modeling and coordination software (Navisworks) formats.
  • Must have comprehensive piping layout skills, including:
    • Understanding of mechanical equipment rooms and systems (HVAC piping, steam, plumbing, industrial process piping, water and wastewater piping & Fire Protection)
    • Knowledge of other mechanical trades (Sheetmetal, Plumbing, Electrical, Maritime)
    • Knowledge of construction techniques (Architectural, Structural)
  • Prepare and coordinate complete BEP (Basic Engineering Package), adhering to established guidelines, for transferring project to the GDC and/or other CPS office.
  • For projects that have been transferred to the GDC, provide assistance and comments as required, along with attending daily coordination meetings.
  • Advise the CPS BIM Manager on a weekly basis on status of all assigned projects and assist with project close out and customer satisfaction reports.
  • Utilize and enforce the CPS PM Division procedures and policies.
  • Work with Victaulic's customer care department regarding the preparation of and/or changes to advanced bill of materials prepared by CPS Coordinators.
  • Assist Sales with presentation of CPS drawing quotes (as required).
  • Assist CPS Pre-Construction, Specification, and Software Development departments. (as required).
  • Must have ability to travel to jobsites to obtain accurate field measurements and interact with customers and Victaulic salespeople as required.
  • Assist in the training of Piping Coordinators, Draftspersons, Draftsperson Trainees, and Interns.
  • Utilize and participate in Lean implementation and the Victaulic Quality Improvement Process.
Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Skills, Personal Attributes)
  • Two year Mechanical Drafting Technical School Education and/or Associate Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years in piping layout experience in HVAC and/or Industrial required, or other equivalent experience in the piping field, such as plumbing, steam piping, Maritime, Fire Protection etc.
  • Project Management experience and organization is desired.
  • Piping specification engineering experience preferred.
  • Experience in pipe stress analysis and pipe support design preferred
  • Training Experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Revit, AutoCAD, CADmep & Navisworks Software preferred.
  • Piping field installation experience and / or piping fabrication experience preferred.
  • Position reports to CPS BIM Manager
  • Must have ability to travel domestically and internationally.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering plus 10 years' experience, or Associate's degree plus a minimum of 15 years' progressive drafting and design experience, including at least twelve as a Designer, or HS diploma (or equivalent) plus a minimum of twenty five years progressive drafting and design experience, including at least fifteen as a Designer.
  • Excellent verbal/writing skills and interpersonal skills to interface with owners, architects, other technical professionals and builders are required.
  • Specific electrical engineering design experience for large commercial facilities such as federal and local Government facilities, aviation, leisure/hospitality and higher education is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are required.

SCOPE:
Perform duties to provide application specific technical sales and business development for kubit Houston office. Autodesk Revit experience required. Assume ownership / maintenance of the Revit Implementation Standards for The Beck Group, in a manner that continues to elevate the quality of our work and the convenience of the User Experience for our Beck Employees.  Responsibilities

Short Term Responsibilities:

Revit Implementation Managers will also function as “Expert Reviteers,” providing at-cost Modeling for Beck Architecture and Beck Construction.  Project Teams can ask the Revit Implementation Team to model Existing Conditions (from Reality Capture done by the Virtual Building Group, or from Existing conditions Documentation).  Models will be built in close collaboration with the current Revit Implementation Manager, to assure that a predictable (quality and methodology) deliverable is achieved for the Beck Teams to completely their Projects.

Role:

This position is focused on teaching, implementing, maintaining, and advancing our existing Revit Workflows and Implementation standards set forth by our Implementation Director.  The ideal candidate is a highly meticulous and detail oriented individual, with experience working in either Architecture or Engineering, and having used Revit for all phases of Project Delivery.

Successful candidates will be knowledgeable about Template maintenance and creation, Object Styles, advanced Content Creation and parametrics, Project Kickoff and Collaboration strategizing, and a forward thinker in the area of Data and downstream workflows with their end product. 

A successful Revit Implementation Manager in this role will also function as a part of the “Expert Reviteer” modeling team, to aide in Modeling from our in-house Reality Capture team, to ensure proper Project commencement.

Experience Requirements:

  • 4 year degree preferred with relevant degree in Architecture, Engineer, or Construction (2 year degree or no college experience may be considered given appropriate work experience)
  • 4-8 years of industry experience
  • High Proficiency level in complex modeling in Revit (All verticals considered)
    • Complex Project work, Detailed Content Creation, and Deployment creation a Plus
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, providing support, and/or written or video instructional documents

BIM Manager - Ayers Saint Gross - MD

Ayers Saint Gross is a 150-person firm designing environments that support the creation and dissemination of knowledge and culture for major higher education, civic, and cultural institutions. We are currently looking for a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager to join our Baltimore Office.

The BIM Manager will serve as the day-to-day liaison for project design teams on BIM-related issues, acting as a mentor to our design members on best practices of moving through the life-cycle of a project. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the BIM processes for multiple projects, supporting production and model development for all phases of projects, implementation of advanced technologies, providing support to BIM initiatives, and ensuring that timely and relevant training is executed. Primary Duties:

Software:
  • Evaluate new version releases prior to full roll-out
  • Review proposed add-ins and supporting digital tools
  • Evaluate emerging BIM or GIS related software and report findings to Director
  • Stay informed of Revit, BIM and GIS best practices
  • Support of BIM tools, including Revit, Navisworks and related tools
  • Support and manage users of cloud-hosted model environments
Standards:
  • Work with Director to update and enhance current standards
  • Provide project-specific support as needed
  • Educate staff on current standards and enforce their use on projects
  • Maintain Revit template files
  • Aid in automation of routines for efficiency
  • Assist in developing project BIM Execution Plans and work with full consulting team to implement
  • Assist in evaluation of staff to identify targeted training needs
Support:
  • Work with IT staff to ensure highest level of BIM production
  • Support BIM / GIS helpdesk needs of Washington DC and Arizona offices
  • Troubleshooting technology issues
  • Liaison with corporate IT staff
  • Periodically assist project teams with modeling support of complex forms
  • Revit family creation in response to need
  • Aid in importing design models (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Civil 3D etc.) into Revit
Training:
  • Conduct internal Revit education sessions
  • Take part in initial orientation for new staff members
  • Educate teams on proper Levels of Development on case-by-case basis
  • Test new hires in BIM / GIS competency
  • Attend conferences and workshops to maintain highest level of competency in core production software
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
  • 5+ years’ experience in supporting design, drafting and production in architecture, engineering or construction fields.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of current Revit versions
  • General knowledge of Navisworks and SketchUp is a plus
  • Understanding of GIS tools
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Must have exceptional work ethic as well as preserving company values
  • Must have strong PC skills in Windows environment
  • Ability to travel to each of our offices and attend conferences periodically.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree is desired
  • Revit certification required
  • Navisworks certification preferred
