Overall Position Description

Key Job Tasks
Design Duties Include

Responsibilities
  • Provide BIM production support for project teams, including project model setup, file export and deliverables.

Qualifications

Revit MEP BIM Support - Texas (Dallas/Houston)

You will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the overall Building Information Modeling (BIM) process as it relates to software application and project support. You will engage with design teams to train staff, enhance project performance and generally support the users using the firm’s help desk ticket system, called iHelp. You will perform other BIM application related tasks as necessary to maintain optimal performance of the process.

You will take charge of and perform tasks for assigned projects which shall include but not be limited to:

  • Understands and embraces the firm’s vision for the implementation and optimization of building information modeling (BIM) within all aspects of the firm’s services and market sectors.
  • Troubleshoots application issues and communicates solution to the users and logs issue into a database for future reference.
  • Outlines application profile and setup for installation on BIM workstations to maintain consistency and optimization.
  • Coordinates and conducts ongoing REVIT MEP training for operators at all levels of experience.
  • Investigate items of significance to the BIM application and keeps abreast of current trends in the computer/BIM industry.
  • Maintains all aspects of plotting for BIM models and documents in regards to optimization of plotting solutions. Communicates with IT group any plotting needs including hardware, software, licensing and maintenance.
  • Assists in the implementation of a documented process for the production of 3D modeling as part of the delivery of engineering services.
  • Assists users with help desk support and problem resolutions related to BIM application support.

SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Design and Product Development, prepare all standard & residence specific plans in Revit Architecture as directed. Complete a full set of working drawings for the construction of the homes including but not limited to: plot plan, floor plan(s), roof plans, exterior elevations, electrical plans, structural options, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2 years of proficient experience working with Revit Autodesk and AutoCAD software programs on the development of residential construction documents. Proven ability to implement heavy Revit Design Options in residential plan sets. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)
  1. Acquire basic knowledge of drawing techniques familiar with architectural drawing practices, skills and familiarity with industry and jurisdictional practices and standards.
  2. Fluent in Revit in the implementation of the following applications; a. Creating and editing residential models b. Project templates and standards c. Project and Shared parameters d. Design Options e. Family components f. Details g. Schedules and keynotes h. Visualization (3D rendering, 3D exploded views, walkthrough)
  3. Coordinate with the estimating and purchasing disciplines to ensure that working drawings are consistent with the approved product standards and specifications.
  4. Revise all plan portfolio information and specifications in accordance with established procedures, and communicate all changes to all affected end users (i.e. sales, marketing, construction, etc.).
  5. Ability to multi-task and handle several projects or assignments at once.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to work independently or in a group setting towards the timely completion of a variety of assignments with aggressive deadlines.
  7. Experience with Excel, Word, Outlook and web browsers.
  8. Requires good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to work extended hours as necessary to complete assignments.
  10. Detail oriented, self-starter who works well with others.
  11. Working from preliminary non-standard option sketches and drawings produced by the sales team, prepares readable detailed drawings with some latitude for independent action.
  12. Execute all approved revisions within established time frames.
  13. Perform “in-house” plan check on all drawings to confirm accuracy and compliance with documents standards and government codes.
  14. Ensure consistency between drawings and construction activity, and resolve any discrepancies identified during field observations.
  15. Verify own completed work by back-checking digital drawings files for accuracy and compliance with 4 Corners Homes drafting standards prior to release for construction on all homes to be built.
  16. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Design and Product Development relative to all 4CORNERS departments and personnel to achieve company goals.

Evening Instructors for Revit - San Francisco/San Jose

A vocational school in San Francisco that provides Revit training for architectural and engineering companies is looking for Revit professionals who enjoy sharing their knowledge with other people. Currently they have openings for part-time evening instructors to teach two evening classes per week. They are looking for instructors to teach classes focused on each version of Revit; Architecture, Revit MEP and Revit Structure. You don't have to know all three versions.

Their classes begin in June in San Francisco and San Jose area. The training is hands-on and there are up to 10 students in a class. They offer excellent compensation and flexibility with schedule.

Description of the Role

Within the Firm
  • Active member of a group of Cannon Designers to organize and maintain our digital data (room types, families and parameters). Development and maintenance of our digital template database.
  • Works with the firm QA/QC, BIM and technical leadership to develop and implement standards and firm-wide “room and asset data management” organization.
  • Assists in training other project teams in project database set up, content creation and use of digital database tools.

Skills
  • Highly skilled in Revit 2012 Architecture or later version with some working knowledge of Revit Structural and MEP functions within Revit
  • Ability to build and run Revit Shared Parameters, including the building of related files, documentation thereof, and editing of Type-based Revit families
  • Complete project delivery understanding to include but not limited to Revit models, multiple model setups, Revit templating (for both Families and RVT files), phasing and scheduling within Revit
  • Experienced in Revit Family building and basic principles of Revit Families
  • Experience or training in Onuma Planning Systems, CodeBook, dRofus, and/or Trelligence Affinity (multiple software experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of MSAccess, Excel, and SQL (or PostGreSQL)
  • Experience with, certification or training in CAFM/CMSS (facilities management/maintenance software) such as Maximo, Archibus, Ecodomus, FM:Systems, or TMA
  • Understanding of database languages and principles of database management, education or classes in SQL or equivalent training preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are critical
  • Ability to understand and manage semantic code language principles
Credentials
  • Architecture or construction degree or experience in the AECOO (building construction) industry
  • Experience with complex built/building projects over 500,000 sf
  • Previous project management experience, certification as CAPM, PPM, or PgPM preferred
  • Previous construction document experience
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to run multiple projects at one time
  • Understanding global connectivity of BIM processes and awareness of new technologies

BIM Manager - Corbis Global - San Diego

We are searching for a BIM Manager to lead a dynamic, collaborative, team-focused work environment in San Diego, California. This is a project focused position with substantial upside for strategic, long term business leadership leveraging BIM technology.

We are looking for a BIM Manager who can:

Successful candidates must have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with Revit/Navisworks including 3D modeling, clash detection and consultant coordination,
  • At least 2+ years of experience at similar position.
  • Experience with Analysis and Simulation software such as Ecotect and Green Building Studio, Vasari, QTO, etc is a plus.
  • A Professional Degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction, is a plus
