We have an immediate opening for a Plumbing Designer within our Facilities Science and Technology team in our Colorado Springs, CO office. Qualified candidates will assume multi-project responsibilities for plumbing, fire protection, and specialty piping system engineering and design for buildings including healthcare, commercial, industrial and educational facilities. Candidate will actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application; preliminary schematics and final designs; calculations; equipment selection and layout; coordination with other production staff; preparation of accurate construction drawings and specifications; submittal review and construction administration. Candidate will interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, and will maintain plumbing/piping design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality. This role will also provide quality control and mentoring to less experienced engineers. This role reports to an engineering manager, who will also provide mentoring and training opportunities to help you grow.

Specific Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering is
  • desirable, but not required.
  • 5-15 years of professional experience in plumbing or piping design with knowledge of plumbing systems including a combination of waste and water systems, special waste systems, natural gas systems, medical gas systems, specialty lab gas systems and fire protection systems.
  • Registered Professional Engineer, preferred but not required.
  • ASPE CPDT/CPD certification, preferred
  • Design experience relative to medium/large commercial and institutional facilities
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
  • Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously

Senior Specialist - Design Technologies - LPA

LPA is seeking a passionate Design Technologies Senior Specialist to join our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior designers, landscape architects and master planners. As a participant in our uniquely collaborative design process, you will work hand in hand with colleagues across disciplines on a wide variety of innovative, sustainable projects. Our award-winning projects aim to have a positive and enduring environmental, economic and social impact.

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Expert knowledge of Revit
  • Passion for and ability to promote BIM/CAD technologies and practices
Requirements:
  • Proven ability to implement and support BIM in an architecture, engineering or construction firm.
  • Organized and methodical with a resourceful capacity for resolving challenges.
  • Ability to manage others for short and medium-term projects.
  • In depth knowledge of and ability to support AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • In depth Knowledge of licensing hardware and software
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with Lumion, vRay, Podium, Rhino + Zoo, Navisworks, and AutoCAD MEP.
  • Awareness of energy modeling software such as Sefaira, Insight 360, Ecotect and EnergyPro.
  • Awareness of project information management software such as Newforma Project Center, BIM 360 Docs and SharePoint.
  • Passion for great customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and build relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage several projects and establish priorities.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other members of the technology team and designers to inspire the design process through technology, workflows and digital tools.
  • Maintain and assist in development of CAD, BIM and rendering libraries.
  • Promote the development of high quality building information models through documentation, education, coordination of model reviews and model maintenance.
  • Review and assist with escalated requests for assistance with design software and projects.
  • Develop and communicate, through documentation and education, best practices as learned from previous projects and support requests.
  • Partner with designers to identify workflow improvements.
  • Evaluate and forecast emerging technologies.
  • Determine and coordinate software updates and deployments.
  • Initiate and setup project related BIM kickoff meetings.
  • Promote and evaluate the development of high quality models through model review and maintenance.
  • Coordinate the interoperability of CAD, graphics and modeling tools.
  • Conduct research and development or professional development focused on current workflows and software that advances the partnership between the technology team and designers.
  • Engage with project teams for limited engagements on project specific work.
