Structural Technician - R.A. Smith National - Brookfield - WI

R.A. Smith National (RASN) is a privately held company providing multi-disciplinary services to government and the land development industry. Our comprehensive services include civil engineering, surveying, construction services, structural engineering, ecological services, landscape architecture, irrigation design, water resource engineering, geographic information systems (GIS) and 3D laser scanning.

We currently have a full time opening for a Structural CAD Technician who will work in our Structural Services Division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares construction documents from data and specifications submitted by engineers
  • Utilizes computer aided drafting techniques to perform applicable work
  • Adds engineering markings to plan sets
  • Alters drawings to conform with engineering changes
  • Analyzes drawings to make sure they are accurate
  • Marks drawings as necessary to indicate any changes that may be required to meet quality control standards
  • Demonstrates an understanding of engineering concepts
  • Utilizes software packages such as Revit and AutoCAD
  • Coordinates work with Project Managers, Engineers, Surveyors, Architects and other CAD Technicians
  • Completes preliminary design work with direction from engineers
  • Utilizes computer file management
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associates Degree in drafting technologies from an accredited school and a minimum of three (3) years progressive experience with Revit or a minimum of five (5) years progressive experience with Revit
  • Thorough understanding of and proficiency using Revit
  • Ability to learn and become proficient using other cad and design software

BIM Drafter - Tech USA - Summerville - SC

This full-time position with Tech USA is located in their Summerville, SC office which is 20-25 minutes from downtown Charleston.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Assist end-users with all BIM and CAD software issues
  • Troubleshoot IT related issues under the direction of an offsite IT Manager, as needed
  • Complete Maintenance on Workstations
  • Assist employees via a help desk ticketing system
  • AutoDesk Revit and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of PC Hardware/Software (XP and Windows 7 environment)
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision
  • Good documentation skills
  • 3-4 Years of BIM design experience
Desired experience:
  • CAD design, AutoCAD, Revit: 4 Years
  • **DOD experience highly preferred**
Required experience:
  • AutoCAD: 1 year
  • Revit: 1 year
  • Drafting: 1 year

BIM Tech - Winston-Salem or Greensboro - NC

This Full-time position with Tech USA is available to be based at one of these two locations.

Overall Responsibility:
Provide BIM/CAD support to projects at the direction of the Operations Manager, Project Manager, or Technical Discipline Lead within the project deliverable schedule.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepares engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information.
  • Transforms marked-up drawings to convert drawings to precise and error-free CAD product.
  • Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.
  • Assists Engineers/Designers on field surveys as required to obtain pertinent information for design.
  • Assist Engineers/Designers in design layout of the following: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection systems, etc.
  • Advise Project Manager of project status with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems; and confer with engineering staff to resolve problems.
  • Creates progress reports.
  • Uses resource efficiently and effectively.
  • Learn and share what you learn.
  • Creates and maintains effective working relationships with supervisor, colleagues, clients, visitors and public-at large.
Secondary Functions:
  • Duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Day-to-day tasks
Needed Skills:
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of CAD software systems, including Revit.
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions and written notes and translate them into products.
  • Competent knowledge of company standards.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to create and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues, vendors and visors.
  • Excellent command of the English language – spoken and written.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security status.
