ID Design Senior Specialist - LPA - Irvine

This is a unique chance to join the Inspired Design (ID) group within LPA. The ID team is a group of designers and technical staff that partners with project teams to make them run smoothly. ID manages network infrastructure, desktop computers, design software, research and development of new technologies and workflows and everything in between. As a Design Specialist you will be involved in project kickoff meetings and day to day support for architectural and engineering designers. From onboarding to training to lessons learned you will have a chance to engage with all project types and all phases.

The ID Design Senior Specialist, is a critical forward-thinking part of LPA | ID, which partners with designers to inspire the design process through technology, workflows and digital tools. The Design Senior Specialist will focus on the advancement of technology through collaboration with designers to inspire and advance the use of building information modeling (BIM), computer aided design (CAD) and project information management (PIM) software. Collaboration with several disciplines, including civil, landscape, architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and low voltage in addition to other members of ID will be essential to the pursuit of LPA’s approach to informed design.

Responsibilities
  • Review and assist with escalated requests for assistance with design software and projects.
  • Develop and communicate, through documentation and education, best practices as learned from previous projects and support requests.
  • Partner with designers to identify workflow improvements.
  • Evaluate and forecast emerging technologies.
  • Determine and coordinate updates and software deployment requirements and steps.
  • Develop, evaluate and/or provide education related to design technologies in collaboration with designers.
  • Coordinate deployment of design and engineering software.
  • Initiate and setup project related BIM Kickoff meetings.
  • Promote and evaluate the development of high quality models through model review and maintenance.
  • Coordinate the interoperability of CAD, graphics and modeling tools.
  • Conduct research and development or professional development focused on current workflows and software that advances the partnership between ID and designers.
  • Engage with project teams for limited engagements on project specific work.
  • Provide leadership for the maintenance and development of the CAD, BIM and rendering libraries.
Requirements
  • At least 3-5 years of experience
  • Expert knowledge of Revit, SketchUp and AutoCAD Architecture.
  • Passion for and ability to promote BIM/CAD technologies and practices.
  • Passion for great customer service.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and build relationships.
  • Effectiveness in working with others and offering assistance when needed.

  • Experience implementing, supporting or practicing BIM in a medium to large sized firm.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Organized and methodical with a resourceful capacity for resolving challenges.
Desired Skills
  • Superior knowledge of AutoCAD Architecture, MEP and/ or Civil 3d.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Acritude, MEP and/ or Civil 3d.
  • Experience with other design software such as Lumion, vRay, Podium and Rhino + Zoo
  • Experience with engineering software such as EnergyPro, Trace 700, AGI 32, etc.
  • Experience with Newforma Project Center, Navisworks, AutoCAD MEP, SpecLink-e, Sefaira, Insight 360, EnergyPro or SharePoint.
  • Competence with licensing hardware and software.

The Design Specialist I will be the first point of contact for designers experiencing an issue with design technologies. While collaborating with designers the Design Specialist I will have the opportunity to inspire and advance the use of building information modeling (BIM), computer aided design (CAD) and project information management (PIM) software. Collaboration with several disciplines, including civil, landscape, architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and low voltage in addition to other members of ID will be essential to the pursuit of LPA’s approach to informed design.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, prioritize and respond to requests for assistance with design software.
  • Coordinate with other members of ID to help resolve technical issues.
  • Foster a sense of partnership with designers to advance and promote design technologies.
  • Host orientation and welcome process for new designers.
  • Assist project leaders in completion of ID projects.
  • Maintain software compliance.
  • Document and communicate best practices.
  • Coordinate outside training for design software as directed by other ID team members.
  • Respond and resolve incoming requests for assistance on design technology related issues.
  • Maintain and assist in developing CAD, BIM and Render libraries.
  • Developing and promoting a partnership with designers across disciplines and offices through following and understanding standards and resources available at LPA.
  • Support plotting and printing from BIM, CAD and PIM platforms.
  • Conduct research and development focused on current workflow/software or through professional development that advances the partnership between ID and designers.
  • Promoting the development of high quality building information models through coordination of model reviews and model maintenance.
  • Engage with project teams for limited engagements on project specific work.
Requirements
  • At least 1-2 years of experience
  • Knowledge of Revit, SketchUp and AutoCAD Architecture.

BIM Coordinator for BLOX

BLOX is looking for a smart, nimble and talented hands-on problem solver. Individual must have good communication and interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and ability to work independently and within a team.

The position will be responsible for helping to ramp up our BIM based scheduling and job site management efforts for a series of healthcare projects. Aiding the scheduling and planning team in the development and coordination of highly detailed location based schedule models. We have an immediate need to fill this role with a contract hire or a full time BIM coordinator. Compensation is highly competitive and the start date is immediate.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proficient with Revit, Synchro, Primavera
  • Previous VDC Coordination experience
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems efficiently
  • Out of the box problem solviing
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with team members
  • Willingness to work with a diverse group of people
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Previous experience with, construction means and methods
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing
