Cooper, Robertson & Partners is looking for a talented person to take on this challenging and interesting role in their firm.
Description
The CAD / BIM Manager is responsible for working closely with the design staff to implement and further develop our firm's procedures and standards for architectural design software. Using our existing standards, the CAD / BIM manager provides upper-level support for organizing project data, developing custom procedures, and customizing software to make the most efficient use of the technology for project work. In developing new standards, the CAD / BIM manager works closely with the studio leads to produce firm-wide procedures and guidelines that conform with national standards, our firm's culture, and the emerging best practices. Importantly, as our firm continues to develop expertise in BIM projects (typically using Revit), the successful candidate will be guiding training and hands-on support for staff and projects new to BIM.
Requirements
Since this position works closely with designers, a thorough knowledge of architectural practice and a keen eye for design are necessary. In some cases the CAD / BIM manager may be placed on projects where expert support is needed, so the CAD / BIM manager must have extensive experience producing architectural drawing sets or BIM models. A pleasant demeanor and the ability to work well with an established IT infrastructure are very important.
Specific software skills
Autocad 2008, Revit 2009, 3ds Max 2009, Adobe Suite, and standard office software packages.
Other skills required
Thorough knowledge of the National CAD Standard, emerging BIM standards, computer rendering, and teaching skills. Experience in implementing BIM strategies on new projects is a must.
About the firm
Based in New York City, Cooper, Robertson & Partners is an architecture and urban design firm providing design, programming, and development services to institutions, public agencies, private landowners, and property development clients. Founded in 1979 on the core conviction that architecture and urban design are inextricably connected, the firm has steadily grown from a company of six people to its current size of more than one hundred designers and support personnel engaged in the execution of major urban design and architectural commissions all over the world. Rather than being guided by abstract theories or a predetermined style, we tailor each project to its individual surroundings, its cultural roots, and to its program, schedule, and cost requirements. We have found this approach to be as appropriate to the single-family house as to the largest urban design projects. No building or design component is seen as separate from its immediate landscape and overall environment.
NOTES: This opportunity is available for US Residents Only.
Our firm has an excellent benefit package including 401k, Medical/Dental Insurance, vacation and sick time.
